Les Corallines Thalasso & Spa shares information about World Water Day.

World Water Day will be observed on Wednesday, March 22.

At the Thalasso & SpaLes Corallines, we are deeply committed to the planet’s natural resources and to raising public awareness about this issue.

This World Water Day was established by the United Nations in 1992 to raise awareness about the situation of the 2.2 billion people who live without access to safe water. Each year’s observance has a specific focus; in 2023, World Water Day aims to accelerate change to resolve the water and sanitation crisis.

It is important to continue using this day to raise awareness about the importance of research for water sanitation, because every day, more than 700 children under the age of 5 die from diarrhea caused by unsafe water or a lack of sanitation. And every year, two million people die for the same reasons. These alarming figures can also be explained by the fact that nearly 159 million people obtain drinking water from surface water sources (such as ponds or streams) that may be contaminated by bacterial, viral, and parasitic organisms.

According to the United Nations, by 2030, 700 million people worldwide could be displaced due to worsening water shortages.
