Founded in 1988 on the coast, the Thalasso & Spa in La Grande Motte is an independent facility where a warm welcome is a value passed down from generation to generation.
When the project for a thalasso hotel was launched in La Grande-Motte by the parents of its current director, seawater therapy was still limited to the Atlantic coast. This made it the first facility of its kind on the Mediterranean.
In fact, it was the parents of Julie Salles, the current Director of the Thalasso & Spa, who took a chance on opening a thalassotherapy center in the Mediterranean at a time when this approach was still uncommon in the region. The facility remains in the family’s hands today, thus carrying on the spirit and values of its founders.
Such a facility naturally had to serve two purposes: on one hand, providing accommodations, and on the other, offering thalassotherapy treatments. The building is thus divided into two distinct sections connected by a massive glass atrium that houses the hotel lobby and a grand staircase leading to the upper floors.
To the east, the dining room is located on the ground floor, followed by the guest rooms on the upper floors, each of which features a private balcony offering a view of the nearby sea. To the west, the areas dedicated to seawater baths and fitness are arranged in slightly recessed tiers, creating large terraces on each level. These, of course, also face the sea.
Les Corallines Thalasso & Spa Hotel: Everything for the “O”
The Thalasso & Spa Hotel – Les Corallines****, named after a type of seaweed, was built on the seafront by architect Alain Clauzel in 1988. It features a similar taste for moldings—which Jean Balladur, chief architect of La Grande Motte, describes as “longitudinal moldings”—and for elliptical curves.
In fact, for “Les Corallines,” he created a design full of curves—highly original and free-flowing—that could only be realized thanks to the possibilities offered by concrete. Whether in the shape of the tub-like balconies, the partition walls, or the elegant concrete arches that adorn the building’s terraces, the ovoid form is everywhere.
The ellipse helps lighten the building’s overall silhouette and lends it a fluidity that is reminiscent of the water to which the space is dedicated. Upon entering the Les Corallines**** Thalasso & Spa Hotel, you truly step into the realm of “O”!
A Four-Star Hotel
The hotel offers 39 rooms measuring approximately 30 m², including 3 suites measuring approximately 60 m² spread across 3 floors, each equipped with a TV, a safe, a telephone, a minibar, and free Wi-Fi access. The rooms’ large floor-to-ceiling windows open onto private terraces overlooking the 400 m² outdoor pool, facing the Mediterranean Sea.
The Corallines restaurant extends this elegant ambiance with balanced menus featuring Mediterranean flavors, always with a view of the sea. In this intimate setting, on the terrace by the pool, the chef offers menus that change daily based on seasonal market offerings.
On the first floor of the hotel, the “Le Tamaris” restaurant offers a natural and cozy setting with a panoramic view of “the Mediterranean.” The chef offers a menu that is both simple and varied, featuring poke bowls, salads, and platters for a quick lunch.
The hotel features four meeting rooms bathed in natural daylight, two of which offer breathtaking views of the sea. All seminar rooms are equipped with high-quality facilities to accommodate various types of events.
Première Ligne Sports Complex
In 2013, the Première Ligne expansion opened, comprising three distinct areas:
• The Parcours Marin: a 200-square-meter heated indoor seawater pool with first-class facilities—leg circulation circuits, massage benches, swan-neck jets, a jacuzzi, and counter-current swimming.
• A Cinq Mondes® Spa with a sauna, steam room, and sensory shower.
• A high-end fitness center with a sea view, offering group fitness and aqua classes as well as a cardio and weight training room in our intimate indoor seawater pool, heated to between 28°C and 30°C.
